Also last night, Arizona beat the Canadiens 5-4, Ottawa fell 3-1 to the Penguins, Winnipeg edged Philadelphia 3-2 in a shootout, Edmonton lost 4-1 to St. Louis and Vegas defeated the Canucks 5-2.

Canadian Joey Votto missed out on his second National League M-V-P award by just two points. The Cincinnati Reds star finished second to Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton. Both players had 10 first-place votes but Stanton finished with 302 points to Votto’s 300. The American League voting wasn’t close at all. Houston’s Jose Altuve won in a landslide.
