In the provincial legislature Thursday, the Opposition questioned the Maclauchlan Government about nursing care beds for seniors.
PC MLA Darlene Compton wanted to know why so many seniors are in hospital beds waiting to get into long term care, when nursing homes in the province have empty beds while they wait for government to provide more licences so they can fill them.
Compton says $12-hundred per person per day is being spent for a hospital bed when those seniors could be moved to more appropriate care.
Health Minister Robert Henderson says a review of long-term care in PEI is underway, with that review to be completed next year.
