The annual economic outlook from the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council points to PEI as Atlantic Canada’s leader in economic growth next year.
APEC forecasts economic growth will be 2.4% this year for PEI, on par with 2016. It says continued population growth should support real GDP growth of 1.9% in 2018, although household spending, tourism and exports are expected to slow.
APEC says the population increases will support consumer spending and new home construction.
