There are 2,500 more Islanders in full-time jobs than there were at this time last year.
Monthly figures released by Statistics Canada Friday found the unemployment rate down 1.2 percentage points when compared to October 2016.
The unemployment rate in October was 10.3 percent , up from 9.5 percent the month before, due mostly to the loss of part-time jobs.
Workforce Minister Sonny Gallant is enthused. He says more Islanders are benefiting from full-time employment. He encourages all Islanders looking for work to the go the Jobs website provided by the province.
