After some investigation by the department’s Major Cruime Unit, Summerside Police say they don’t believe some Halloween treats were intentionally tampered with.
It was Halloween night when Summerside Police received two reports of Halloween treats having possibly been tampered with.
The first report indicated that some staples were found stuck in the outside of a mini chocolate bar wrapper as a parent was inspecting their child’s treats. The second involved a parent finding a torn chocolate bar wrapper while inspecting treats.
By Wednesday afternoon, police had determined that there was no intention to tamper with treats or harm any trick-or-treaters.
Police do still encourage parents to thoroughly inspects children’ s treats as they can become contaminated by ways other than intentional acts.
