Charlottetown Councillor Melissa Hilton has won the PC Party of PEI nomination, and will be on the ballot for the Progressive Conservatives in the November 27th byelection in District 11, Charlottetown-Parkdale.
Hilton has represented Ward 9 on Charlottetown Council since 2005.
Earlier this week, another Charlottetown Councillor, Bob Doiron, won the Liberal nomination, while Hannah Bell will be running for the Green Party.
Earlier in the day on Wednesday, Elections PEI told the PC Party of PEI to take down some Melissa Hilton campaign signs that had been posted.
The nomination meeting wasn’t until Wednesday night, but the signs were up earlier in the day and Elections PEI determined that the signs went against the Election Expenses Act.
Elections PEI says that was because signs cannot be posted until there is a registered candidate for the party, and at that point of the day there wasn’t.
