The PEI Government says its provincial deficit for the 2016-2017 fiscal year now stands at 1.3 million dollars.
The deficit of $1.3 million is down from the budget estimate of $9.5 million.
The MacLauchlan Government also says it’s on track to achieve a balanced budget in the current fiscal year.
The numbers were released Tuesday with the tabling of the 2016-17 Public Accounts — an annual financial summary and accountability report audited by the province’s auditor general.
The government says the lower deficit is the result of an improved financial outlook during the last fiscal year, with increased revenue.
