The City of Charlottetown joined forces with efficiencyPEI to build on a successful pilot program that wrapped up earlier this year.
They’ve launched and expanded the Certified Sustainable Business certification program.
The program offers up a checklist of sustainable practices with a focus on energy and waste management. If a business meets the required number of checklist items, it will receive a framed certificate and a window/door decal marking their status to display in the workplace for all to see.
Mayor Clifford Lee says the partnership with efficiencyPEI and Island Waste Management will make the program more robust and provide expanded opportunities for the business community.
Officials say the participating business will realize some savings as a result of the program.
The program is open to all Charlottetown businesses to participate on a voluntary basis.
