The UPEI Panthers hammered the Moncton Aigles Bleu, 8-2 in AUS men’s hockey scoring five times in an explosive second period.
That gives UPEI a second straight win over Moncton this week and a 2-1 record.
Cody Payne was player of the game with 2 goals and 2 assists. Brent Andrews and Marcus Power also scored twice. Rookie Kameron Keilly had four assists and now has 9 points in three games.

Moncton trimmed the UPEI women’s Panthers 2-1. Sydnee Baker broke up Moncton’s shutout attempt late in the third.
UPEI has its home opener tonight at 7.00 facing defending conference champion Saint Mary’s.

The Charlottetown Islanders used a 3 goal third period to get by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, 4-3 in the Q.Samuel Meisenheimer scored the winner – his second of the game. The Islanders improve to 2-6-1 and host the Titan tonight at 7.00.
Islanders goalie Dakota Cornish-Lund recorded his first win in the Q with 46 saves.
Cape Breton edged Halifax, 4-3.

Detroit used a 4 goal 3rd period to hand the Las Vegas Golden Knights their first loss. James Neal got his 6th goal of the season for Vegas.
Alex Ovechkin got his 9th goal as Washington dropped New Jersey, 5-2.

Columbus over the NY Rangers, 3-1.
