The Charlottetown Islanders came up short in a 2-1 loss in Moncton to the Wildcats in the Q. Another good defensive effort the Islanders but their only goal came from former Wildcat Will Bower. Jacob Pelletier and Mika Cyr scored for Moncton. Cyr’s goal put them ahead to stay less than four minutes into the 3rd.
Shots were even, 27 apiece.
The Islanders are 1-3 and have been outscored 9-6 in four games.

TJ Shea scored his second power play goal of the game nearing the 4 minute mark of overtime as the Summerside Western Capitals won their home opener in the MHL, 3-2 facing the Woodstock Slammers. Josh MacDonald had the other Caps goal. Kyle Foreman tied the game for Woodstock with only 21 seconds left in regulation. The Capitals are 2-3.

Northeastern University romped to a 9-1 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers in Boston. N-U scored four times in the first and never looked back. Beau McCue had the lone goal for the Panthers who play Boston University tonight.
Adam Gaudette and Dylan Sikura had 2 goals and 2 assists each for the Huskies. UPEI is 1-4 in pre-season games.

Detroit got by Toronto, 3-2 in NHL pre-season action. Montreal ran over Ottawa, 9-2.
Chicago shutout Boston, 1-0.
Vancouver edged Edmonton, 3-2.

The Boston Red Sox clinched the A.L. East title with a 6-3 win over Houston. Mookie Betts homered and Drew Pomeranz earned his 17th win.
Aaron Judge smacked his 52nd homer as the NY Yankees trimmed the Jays, 2-1. The 27th 1-run loss for Toronto this season. The Yankees also take the first wild card spot in the A.L.

Marc Campbell drove three winners at Red Shores in Charlottetown including Sock It Away in 1.56/4 in the Joe O’Brien Memorial for 2 year old colts and Scarlett Desire in 1.59/2 in the Lady Slipper Stakes for 2 year old fillies.
