P-E-I’s premier is asking the federal government to defer implementing its proposed tax changes, and extend its consultations.
Premier Wade MacLauchlan has sent a letter to federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau, saying there is significant uncertainty in the business community.
MacLauchlan says many business owners say the changes could be an impediment to succession planning, particularly in the agriculture and fishing sectors.
He says any confusion or unintended consequences of the changes will have a significant dampening effect on future growth of the island economy.
