Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau fielded concerns about proposed tax changes that critics say could be harmful to Canadian businesses.
Members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce confronted Morneau about the tax proposals at their annual meeting in Fredericton Saturday. Among them were members of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce including President Rory Francis.
Chamber members say the federal government is making businesses look bad by casting long-standing tax policies as loopholes.
Morneau, who is on a “listening tour” over the tax proposals, says federal politicians will take the public feedback into account as they mull over the fiscal measures.
