The 9th Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots fundraising event at Credit Union Place in Summerside Saturday night was a great success, raising $1.2 million for the Prince County Hospital Foundation.
The funding this year will go toward renovations for three operating rooms at the hospital.
The PCH performs 5,000 surgeries a year on patients from all over the province.
There was some huge gifts announced.
$150-thousand from Canadian Tire in Summerside and $150-thousand from Mary Jean Irving and the Master Foundation. Province of PEI contributed $200-thousand, and Robert Irving/Cavendish Farms supported with $250,000
The Island PC official opposition won a new Jeep Wrangler worth $45,000 or more and donated it back to the Hospital Foundation.
Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots began in 2009 as an idea from businessman Warren Ellis and his wife Marlene and family and continues each year.
