The City of Charlottetown says it needs more time to review the Westlock County, Alberta Municipal Inspection Report regarding Peter Kelly.
Kelly is Charlottetown’s current CAO, and former CAO in Westlock.
The report suggests Kelly exceeded his authority as Westlock CAO and contravened the province’s Municipal Government Act by negotiating a land lease and authorizing site improvements to develop a municipal property without the authority of a resolution from the council.
Kelly has called the report lacking, and inaccurate, and argues that he did have authority with two motions passed by council.:
Charlottetown’s Mayor and Council met on Tuesday night with a lawyer to review the Report. It was decided that more time is required to thoroughly review the details in the report and discuss at greater length with all members of council. It’s expected that further comment from the City will come by the end of the month.
