PEI’s Summer Tutoring Program for Kids wraps up this Friday but that doesn’t mean it’s finished.
Starting this fall it will be known as “Ready, Set, Learn!” and will expand to offer year-round programs to keep students engaged in learning.
The PEI Literacy Alliance hosted the summer tutoring program in 21 public libraries across the province to encourage literacy and prevent summer learning loss for students. More than 20 tutors individually taught 30 students every week during July and August.
The new program will provide day camps throughout the school year, as well as tutoring during the summer.
The province is a $41,500 partner with Ready, Set, Learn! and others include Service Canada, the United Way of PEI, Skills PEI, Raise a Reader, PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada, and RBC – with nearly $87,000 in combined contributions.
