James MacDonald is the World Driving Champion.
The PEI native represented Canada this week in the World Driving Championships, and clinched the championship with an 8th place finish at red Shores Charlottetown in the final race of the event.
MacDonald came into the fifth and final leg of the event friday night, and managed to hold onto the lead despite losing some position in inquiries in two of the races.
MacDonald says winning the World Driving Championship was made all the more special by being able to win it in Charlottetown with his family there at the track.
11 of the world’s best harness drivers competed in the 5 legs of the event this week across Canada. With the victory, MacDonald wins $25-thousand.
