A new survey by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business finds that nearly one-third of Canadian small businesses that trade with the U-S and/or Mexico, say the potential renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement will alter their export and import plans.
Erin McGrath-Gaudet, CFIB’s director for PEI, says there’s a real concern among the membership that any changes to NAFTA could have significant effects on their ability to sell goods and services abroad; and their cost of importing goods.
She says they want to ensure that a new deal creates even more, not less, business opportunities for Island firms.
