Tuesday is trap-setting day for the fall – lobster season, a day early.
D-F-O had decided to move trap-setting day from the usual August 9th opening.
There’s hope prices this fall will be in line with the spring of 2017 when fishermen received up to seven-dollars-and-50 cents a pound for most of the season.
There are concerns though that a change in the lobster’s carapace size could mean a 10 to 15 per cent decrease in landings.
