Last Saturday around 5:30 p.m., Kings District RCMP responded to a call in St. Margarets, where it was reported two individuals were off-shore in a rubber dinghy fighting the tides and currents.
The dinghy occupants didn’t have life jackets or paddles with them.
A Kings County Mountie joined a fishing boat captain and mate at Naufrage Harbour Wharf and all proceeded to help with the rescue operation. Members of the Souris Fire Department were also dispatched with their boat, and Island EMS attended as well.
An adult male and female from the Souris area were rescued but, thankfully, did not require any medical treatment.
