People around the world will be able to watch the 44th Canadian Oyster Shucking Championships LIVE from the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival this weekend.
Interest in the event has grown immensely in recent years and organizers have been inundated with requests for updates from individuals and oyster bars across the country.
Enter “ShuckTV”.
Jeff Noye, Chair of the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival, says last year they piloted a live stream of the shucking championship using Facebook Live and thousands of viewers tuned-in; including, viewers from Europe, Australia, the United States and across Canada. Noye says the festival now has its’ own channel and ‘ShuckTV.com’ will carry the event which will also be view-able live on You Tube and Facebook.
He says early response has been tremendous and oyster bars across the country are organizing viewing parties, adding the live stream will be a great tool to enhance the prestige and success of the event and help to attract sponsorships.
Noye adds other regional oyster shucking events have also expressed interest in using ShuckTV, such as the Halifax Oyster Festival being held in September.
