The Canada Games are marking 50 years this year with the competition about to begin in Winnipeg.
Friday night baseball and volleyball player Logan MacDougall of Summerside led Team PEI into the games at the opening ceremonies carrying the Island flag.
MacDougall says it was amazing to walk out and see all of the fans in a the huge arena setting, the MTS Centre, home of the Winnipeg Jets of the NHL.
168 Island athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff took part in the procession. They will be competition this week.
PEI has a total of 316 members including those who will compete in the second week of the Summer Games.
The action begins today.
