P-E-I fishermen are gearing up for the opening of the lobster season a day earlier than expected.
The Prince County Fishermen’s Association says D-F-O decided to move trap-setting day to August 8th instead of the usual August 9th opening.
It’s hoping prices this fall will be in line with the spring of 2017 when fishermen received up to seven-dollars-and-50 cents a pound for most of the season.
There are concerns though that a change in the lobster’s carapace size could mean a 10 to 15 per cent decrease in landings.
