Jail sentences were handed down recently for two drivers from West prince on impaired driving related charges.
A 51 year-old Richmond area woman was sentenced to 14 days in jail. In late May in the Traveller’s Rest area, police responded to a single vehicle crash and arrived to find a vehicle upside down in the ditch with the woman still inside. She was also fined $13-hundred and was banned from driving for 18 months.
A 40 year-old Tignish man has been sentenced to 60 days in jail. That’s in connection with an incident in which police were called about an unresponsive man behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Palmer Road Church in St. Louis. Court heard that the man had in excess of three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and previous convictions for impaired driving. He was also fined $150hundred and prohibited from driving for 24 months.
