Garfield Street had to be closed off for several hours Monday as the Charlottetown Fire Department responded to a chemical leak.
Both Charlottetown Fire Department stations responded to the call about 10:00 Monday morning at Atlantic Warehousing on Garfield Street. The chemical leak reportedly involved hydrochloric acid.
Fire officials evactuated the building and the surrounding area, within 150 feet.
Along with the Charlottetown Fire department, the Provincial Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Team was called to the scene, along with Island EMS, Provincial Fire Marshal and Occupational Health and Safety.
The cause of the leak remains under investigation.
