Some federal support coming today for PEI Bag Co. Ltd. for expansion and modernization of its packaging process.
PEI Bag Co. has been in business since 1935 when it was first a jute bag operation for the growing potato market.
Today, the Central Bedeque based business has expanded into markets for other agriculture and aquaculture goods, as well as the construction industry, reaching customers across Canada and around the world.
The Hon. Wayne Easter, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, announced $200,000 for the company to purchase a bag manufacturing machine that will allow PEI Bag Company to increase its output and improve the quality of it mesh bag products.
Thane Smallwood, company General Manager, says the new machine operated by highly skilled employees will allow for improvement of their product, increase productivity, and provide opportunities to compete in new markets both in central Canada and the US marketplace.
