Do Over Hanover won the 49th Summerside Chrysler Dodge Governor’s Plate with Marc Campbell driving in 1.53/2 in the $22,000 race at Red Shores in Summerside. It’s a second straight Plate win for Campbell.
The 4 year old gelding is owned by Allard Racing of Saint-Esprit, Quebec, Red Isle Racing of North Granville and Steven MacRae of Vernon Bridge and trained by Chris MacKay.
Crombie A was second, Junebugs Baby finished third and Hot Deuce was fourth.
The Governor’s Plate was presented by Lt. Governor Frank Lewis in the winner’s circle.

Tim Yorke has a one stroke lead on Martin O’Brien entering the third round of the Cooke Insurance Island Open at Stanhope. Yorke is the defending champion and he had 75 yesterday while O’Brien was at 72. Jeremy Stevneson and Jason Campbell are two shots off the pace.
O’Brien leads the Amateur Men’s section while Yorke is on top of the Mid-Amateur. Fiona Thompson leads the Amateur Women’s by 5 strokes entering the third round.

The Detroit Tigers got to Jays starter Francisco Liriano early in am 11-1 romp over Toronto. Liriano (5-5) left the game with tightness in his neck after giving up 5 runs on just 2 hits but 4 walks in 2 plus innings. Michael Fullmer (10-6) allowed just 2 hits over 8 inning. Miguel Cabrera had 3 hits including a 2 run homer. J.D.Martinez had a 3 run homer and 5 RBIs. The Jays now 42-48.

The NY Yankees outlasted the Boston Red Sox, 4-1 in a 16 inning thriller at Fenway Park. Chris Sale sailed along with 13 strikeouts but the Yanks got to stopper Craig Kimbrel in the 9th as he blew his first save at Fenway Park. Matt Holiday hit a game tiying home run and Didi Gregorius drove in the winner in the 16th.
Chicago Cubs over Baltimore, 10-3. Jake Arrieta (9-7) with the win. Albert Almora and Addison Russell homered.
Tampa Bay doubled the Los Angeles Angels, 6-3. Alex Cobb got the win while Logan Morrison and Steven Souza Jr. both homered.
