First race post time is 7 P.M. for the 12-dash card with Elektra Express drawing post 3 in her $9,160 Atlantic Sires Stakes A-division for three-year-old pacing fillies in race 11. The King of Island racing, Marc Campbell, will be in the bike behind Elektra Expres and is also favoured in every A-division on the card with fillies from his own stable.

Golfers on PEI teeing off today at the Cooke Insurance Amateur Golf Championship. The first of three rounds at the Stanhope Golf Course began this morning. 2016 men’s champ was Tim Yorke of Kensington while Sherry White of Stratford looks to repeat as P.E.I. women s golf champ. The Island Amateur is billed as the Island’s top golf event of the season.
Canada’s Brooke Henderson is four shots off the lead heading into the second round of the U-S Women’s Open in New Jersey. Henderson shot a 2-under 70 yesterday. Shanshan Feng leads the way at 6 under.

A busy weekend for Triathlon PEI. They’re hosting a 3KM Charity Fun Run for the Summerside Boys and Girls Club at 12:00 noon on Saturday. Registration is at 11 at the Holman Centre parking lot. Then it’s the Tri Lobster Triathlon tomorrow and Sunday with divisions including sprint, supersprint, olympic, duathlons and team sprint. Also on Sunday there is a Kids of Steel Triathlon that includes swimming, biking, and running. There are divisions between 5 and 13 years of age with registration beginning at 1 pm at Credit Union Place and racing starting at 2.
