A youth advisory board on the Island says it’s pleased the province is increasing a post-secondary education bursary for high school students who volunteer in their communities.
The Community Service Bursary has been raised to a maximum of 750-dollars from 500 dollars and expanded to include grade 10 students.
The Youth Futures Council says it’s thrilled to see its recommendations are being implemented.
Advanced Learning Minister Sonny Gallant says expanding the bursary is good for everyone because it helps students pay for college or university, and encourages young people to volunteer earlier and more often in their communities.
