Fire has damaged the Livingston Steel facility on Ottawa Street in Summerside.
About 30 firefighters responded to the blaze that was reported at 5.00 on Friday afternoon.
Firefighters got the fire under control within an hour.
There were no injuries.
The effort to get the fire under control meant using extra caution due to the amount of combustibles inside the building.
Summerside Deputy Fire Chief Tom Peters says the large bay doors of the building were closed which made it easier to the fight the blaze.
Most the 15 employees who work at Livingston Steel were gone for the day.
It’s believed the fire started in a room used for painting in the building. Flames spread up a wall and into the ceiling.
