The Toronto Blue Jays couldn’t hold on to an early lead and wound up losing 7-4 in 11 innings to the visiting Boston Red Sox.
Jays starter Marco Estrada blames himself for the loss. He allowed seven walks pitching into the 5th inning.
The first place Red Sox went ahead 5-4 in the 11th as pinch hitter Xander Bogaerts drove in Hanley Ramirez.
The Sox maintain a one game lead on the Yankees for first in the A.L. East. New York scored 12 runs in the final four innings as they bounced the Houston Astros, 13-4. Brett Gardner hit a grand slam. Houston still leads the majors with a 54-27 record.
Steven Souza Jr. hit a three-run homer in the 10th as Tampa Bay got by Baltimore, 6-4.
