At Red Shores in Charlottetown Thursday night, Island Energetic and Marc Campbell won the feature event in 1:56.3.
Red Shores Summerside, host of the traditional Canada Day card Saturday afternoon at 1pm, will kick off the weekend with the 250th anniversary of horse racing in Canada Pace on race 1. The afternoon will feature special trackside presentations by long time members of the harness racing community to each winner.
The celebrations continue on Sunday afternoon in Charlottetown. Post time is 12:30pm. Members of the harness racing community will also be trackside to present plaques to the winner of each race while the last race of the afternoon will be the 250th anniversary of horse racing in Canada pace to close down the weekend.
In the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League Thursday night, Chatham beat the Charlottetown Islanders 5-2.
The Orioles have taken two of three from the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre thanks to some quality pitching. Ubaldo Jimenez allowed just two hits over eight innings as Baltimore beat Toronto 2-0. The Jays mustered just five runs in the three-game set.
